Ho ho ho and all that!
I wasn't going to post this so early in the year, I was going to wait a couple of weeks. But the requests have already started to trickle in for me to pass on my address to lovely people who want to send me a Crissmuss Card, so I thought I'd better post it now. Bah humbug and all that for talking about The C Word in November...
I'd like to make a request please. As many of you know, I don't celebrate crissmuss in the traditional sense, and receiving cards is especially difficult for me no matter how awesome they may be. So this year, if you would normally want to put me on your crissmuss card list, I would very much appreciate it if you would instead donate the cost of the card (and postage) to one of these two organisations:
Women's Aid: A domestic violence charity that provided emergency accommodation for me when I had to escape nasty people, and assisted me in finding somewhere safe to live permanently. You can donate any amount by clicking here or to donate £3 instantly send ACT in a text message to 70300. (I'm not sure if this works from outside the UK so if you're from another planet or just another country you might prefer to donate online.)
5 Quid For Life: An awesome new organisation set up to help people who are at the sharp end of the welfare reforms. Many people who receive benefits on mental health grounds stand to lose everything as the relentless cuts are made even worse by the shifting of the entire system in favour of physical health rather than mental health, and 5 Quid For Life provides a safety net should the worst happen. You can donate any amount by clicking here.
You can donate any amount you like - even if it was just 50p (the cost of a crissmuss card from a multipack and a UK second class stamp) it would all go to help people in need. Of course feel free to send more if you want to, or if you would've got me a really posh card, or even a present :D
Or, if you prefer to donate to another charity, please feel free to do that instead. I'm just giving these two options as they are both very close to my heart. I don't mind if you want to go elsewhere or add an extra 50p on to a donation you had already planned; I just wanted to offer something that people can do instead of sending me a card
It seems a bit early to say this, but I don't feel I can end this post without sending out glittery love and lots of good wishes. However you choose to spend the next 7 weeks I hope they're awesome for each and every one of you. =D
Excellent idea.
